Validity of Internet Sources

Internet Validity can be hard to decipher on whether the source is reliable or not. However, we need to be aware of what we are viewing and what we are using to study off of.  Even when writing papers, we need to make sure our sources are reliable.  Wikipedia is a source that is not reliable says many because anyone can write on it and not have it immediately checked and therefore it could have something false.  CARS stands for a specific acronym we discussed. Credibility stands for a trustworthy source that relies on the author's credentials.  Look at the authors information and date to figure out whether it is credible. Look for sources that have a lot of reviews on them from many different sources.  Accuracy in our sources is crucial as well.  Making sure that the source is up-to-date, factual, detailed, exact, and comprehensive.  Making sure that the source reflects intentions of completeness and accuracy. Reasonableness is figuring out whether the source is fair, balanced, objective, reasoned, without conflict of interest, has absence of fallacies without a slanted tone. The goal is that the source engages the subject thoughtfully and reasonably, concerned with truth. Finally, the S in CARS is "support." Support is making sure the source listed other sources, contact information, available corroboration, claims supported, with documentation supplied.  The goal is that the source provided would convince evidence for the claims made, a source that can be triangulated and have at-least 2 other sources that support it.  I honestly can not remember using the wrong source in my past for assignments however, I will find some sources that are less than valid sources though which are bogus.

Fair Use and Copyright Law

Copyright Basics is a very important topic faced today in the technological way. When dealing with people and their works we need to be careful and smart. So... What is it?
Copyright is every expression which is original can be immediately copyrighted if used and not your own.  Authors have the right to make copies of own work and publish them to other sources. A number categories of copyrighted items were discusses they are: Literary works, Musical Works, Dramatic Works, Pantomimes and Choreographic works. Each of these play important roles in specifics of how works can be copyrighted.
When not wanting to copyright another persons work we need to make sure we know when something becomes no longer copyrightable by another person.  It starts from when work is created and goes 70 years after that individuals death. A common Rule of Thumb when dealing with copyrighted material is to say when in doubt, assume a work is copyrighted and ask for permission to use it. There is a fair use law that we can look into in circumstances.  However we need to be very careful to look up what we are using to make sure we are not stealing another individuals work.  The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes.  Sound can even be copyrighted.  Make sure not to copy a performable unit of music.  Finances need to be going to the right source and not stolen from the individual.  Teacher need to make use of the public domain and of materials provided by the government and educational institutions.  Collaborate with other teachers to create and spread more material for the public domain. Ask permission from the individual to make sure and be certain.  We see that this is vital as our jobs can be on the line if we are not following the law.

As a Christian these rules do impact me as a Christian.  I never want to take what is rightfully somebody else's.  As a christian wanting to set an example I do not want to allow myself to be slack in this area of being a teacher.  I long to do my best in all things that I do and that means not only keeping the speed limit but also such laws as not copywriting other people's materials or pieces of property of which things stemmed from.

Christian Worldview OH YEAH!!!

A Christian Worldview is a subject many try to nail down and find it very tough.  I Byron Reimer am going to try to do my best to define what this is to me.  A Christian worldview is a worldview built upon the foundation of Jesus Christ.  "Christ" is in Christian.  We get the word Christian from one who follows Christ.  Its a view that looks at life and sifts who one is and what we do through the lenses of this person Christ and the book he gave to us- "The Bible!" Many worldviews are man reaching toward their own made up personal God, when Christianity shows us that God first reached down toward us and sent His son to die for us.  This understanding is the standard for the Christian worldview because we now as individuals look to serve this Jesus Christ who loves us un-conditionally.  We live with our lives as a sacrifice to show our love back but this sacrifice is one filled with joy because he first showed us how to live and not give into temptation.  My Christian worldview is a worldview that is exciting because I know his promises and his compassion and how it is real for me. The Christian worldview affects who I am as a person all the time not just on sundays but 24/7.  It is a worldview that is going to affect eternity if believing in the One God who controls all and is all and saves all and this is a few reasons why I believe and am proud to be a part of Christ's redemptive plan and believe in the Christian worldview.

Use of Technology

Technology in education is very important because of many reasons.  I think its important because of the power that it has in the hearts and lives of our culture as a whole.  Technology shows us how much more we can get accomplished as well as we correspond between one another on blogs.  Technology allows thoughts to be written down with-out being rushed.  The students can be diligent at nights, evenings or morning when their schedules workout to put good effort toward computer assignments.  Smart-boards allow games to be played on them as a class.  In my experience I have loved smart-board use in classes because the class loves to play educational history guessing games as we go through the notes in my practicum experience.  Short movie clips have helped to enhance my interests into history in high school as well.  I love to use online blogs because you can make posts and reply to others intellectually.  I think that technology is important also to keep students attention when we do not just not trust our students in the classroom but rather use technology to be used so that trust is given and allow the students to ruin the use of even cell phones by them-self.  Technology in education is a must.  We need to use it however we need to teach critical thinking with it.  We need to make sure our objectives are being met as teachers with using technology and that technology is not the main objective itself.
